Reverse image search for online and local pictures

Use the context menu to search any web image in multiple engines, or open each engine's upload page to search pictures stored on your computer. The extension never uploads local files itself.

Tip: Some engines (Google, Bing, Yandex, TinEye) may need a proxy / VPN in some regions.

1. Online image search (web images)

When you see an image on a website and want to find the source, higher resolution, or similar pictures, use the online image search feature.

Step 1 · Download and install the extension (.crx)

  • 1 Click the "Download extension (.crx)" button at the top of this page and save the file (for example multi-image-search.crx) to your computer.
  • 2 Open the extensions page in your browser: Chrome → chrome://extensions, Edge → edge://extensions, Brave → brave://extensions, Opera → opera://extensions. Turn on "Developer mode" if you see this option.
  • 3 Drag and drop the downloaded .crx file onto the extensions page and confirm the installation. After installation, this guide page will open automatically.

Step 2 · Use the right-click menu on web images

  • 1 Right-click any image on a web page.
  • 2 Choose "Search image with default engine (...)" to search with your default engine (for example Google Lens).
  • 3 Or open "Multi-engine image search ▶" and choose Google, Bing, Yandex, TinEye or Baidu. You can also enable the item "Search in all enabled engines" in the options.

Step 3 · Configure engines in Options

On the Options page you can change the interface language, enable or disable engines, select the default engine, and decide whether to show "Search in all enabled engines".

In some regions, sites like Google, Bing, Yandex and TinEye may be blocked or very slow. This affects both web-image search and local-image search. If the page does not open, keeps loading or shows a network error, please enable your proxy / VPN extension and then try the image search again.

2. Local image search (files on your computer)

For pictures saved on your computer, the extension only helps you open each search engine's official image search page. You then use the site's own "upload image" button to start the search. The file is sent directly to Google / Bing / Yandex / TinEye / Baidu, not to this extension.

Local image search ▶ Google Images Bing Images Yandex Images TinEye Baidu Images

Step 1 · Open the local image menu

  • 1 Right-click anywhere on a page (it does not have to be on an image).
  • 2 In the context menu choose "Local image search ▶" and then pick Google, Bing, Yandex, TinEye or Baidu.

Google Images

After choosing Google, a Google Images page opens. Click the camera icon (Search by image) and choose "Upload a file", then pick your local picture.

Bing Images

After choosing Bing, a Bing image search page opens. Click the camera icon in the search box and upload a file from this device.

Yandex Images

After choosing Yandex, a Yandex images page opens. Click the camera icon and upload a file from your computer.

TinEye

After choosing TinEye, the TinEye homepage opens. Click "Upload" and select your local picture to start the search.

Baidu Images

After choosing Baidu, the Baidu image homepage opens. Click the camera icon (以图搜图) next to the search box and upload a local file.

In some regions, sites like Google, Bing, Yandex and TinEye may be blocked or very slow. This affects both web-image search and local-image search. If the page does not open, keeps loading or shows a network error, please enable your proxy / VPN extension and then try the image search again.

3. FAQ

Does the extension upload my local images?

No. For local images it only opens the official image search pages of each site. The upload happens between your browser and Google / Bing / Yandex / TinEye / Baidu directly.

Why do some engines not open?

Usually this is caused by network or region restrictions. No matter whether you opened the site from the web-image context menu or from "Local image search ▶", if the page does not open, keeps loading or shows a network error, please first check your connection, then enable your proxy / VPN extension and try the image search again.
